JUNE 28th, 1994.[]
The newspaper had a story, a story all too familiar.
A man with 2 kids was driving for a road trip, a trip to visit their mother. But he crossed paths with an intoxicated driver, and thus.. The crash happened. The glass broke, the airbag activated, but the airbag that was supposed to save the paternal figure had ended up suffocating him to death. The two kids in the backseat were the only alive ones in the situation, with the elder passed out with blood actively dripping from their head, and the younger trying to get her older sibling out as fast as she could, tears dripping down her face as the injury that turned her mouth into a slit only hurt more with each pant. A driver, a sober one, happened to pass by the accident, and called 911 almost immediately.
The two survivors were named Alex and Marilyn.
And the accident was 5 years ago.
MOUTHLESS MARY[]
JULY 3rd, 1994.[]
Laurel Teller, A mother of two and a widow, had received a call from the hospital, the ringtone a rather surprise to her. She never receives calls from work unless she’s late, so this was an opportunity.
“Hello?” inquired Laurel. “Laurel of the Teller Residence?” Asked a feminine voice, a rather shaky voice on the other side of the call. “Is this her?” “Yes, I’m Laurel. Any updates on my kids?” Laurel asked. “Uhm, yes, well… Alexis could be healed with a stitch, but Marilyn, Uhm.. She had to be put to sleep for the procedure, the child kept complaining about how her mouth hurts and how she’s scared. Otherwise, everything went smoothly.” Laurel, hearing those words, had never had a brighter shine in her eyes. Hope had come at last!
Laurel had drove to the hospital, made sure to lock the door in case of carjackers, and walked to the hospital, taking the elevator to the 3rd floor, going to hospital room 628, and-
The kids are asleep.
Laurel had a soft smile of relief on her face, as she gently woke Alex up and picked up Mary. “C’mon, let’s go home,” Laurel spoke gently. Alex held hands with their mother as they walked back to the car. Alex is in the backseat with their sister, and Laurel is in the front. Unlike their dead father, their mother was very careful with driving, and made sure to back away from drivers that may or may not be intoxicated and/or drugged. 20 minutes later, they had gotten home safely, the three of them getting out of the car and going back into the house.
The house was a 1-story building, with 5 rooms - 2 bedrooms, the main room; a kitchen and living room combo, and 2 restrooms. One bedroom was for Alex and Mary, and the other was for Laurel. It was already night, and the two were really tired from the operation, taking the time to sleep off the events, and start a new life.
AUGUST 29th, 1999, 5 years later.[]
“Ally,” Marilyn hopped off of her bed to climb up the other one and shake Alex, startling them up. “G-Gh.. ugh… Mary.. don’t wake me up like that.” Alex groggily said, wiping their eyes as they were interrupted from their peaceful dream. “It’s Monday," Mary said. “The first day of school. Get up!” Because she continued shaking her older sibling, Alex had grumbled more and gently pushed her off. “It’s not like I’m in a hurry..” Laurel’s voice came from the nearest room; her own. “You missed your bus 5 minutes ago!” That was the very sentence that woke Alex up.
They immediately jumped out of bed, putting on their clothes rushingly, and then ran out the door; The bus was still there, waiting. Their own mother pulled a prank. A prank only a dad would do. As Alex stepped up into the bus, they saw a girl. A girl with darker skin, reddish-blonde hair, and a white shirt and jeans with a purple flannel jacket over said shirt. This girl, Ariya, knew as much about Alex as Alex knew about her. She patted the seat next to her, and so Alex sat there, a hint of blush showing on their freckled face.
“Hey Ally.” Ariya said, smiling at Alex’s awkward and blushing face. “Didn’t know you were on the same bus as me.”
“...Yeah. Weird, huh.” Alex responded.
Alex and Ariya were childhood friends, and they’ve continued to be friends ever since they met. When Ariya was only 6, She’d been picked on by 8 year olds because of her passion for drawing wizards. They always told her it was nerdy, but Ariya thought it was cool. And, Alex, the child of a nerd, happened to come across Ariya. It was friendship at first sight, and Alex always brought Ariya to their home where there’d be a small Mary, reaching her first year of existence. Ariya always got to hold Mary, and Mary would enjoy Ariya’s company, even babbling and reaching her itty-bitty hands out to where Ariya is. And their playdates were like 2-player DnD campaigns.
But that was when Dad was still alive, let alone Mom being married to him.
After the accident, Alex had never known what Ariya had to think about such a thing–
“I missed you a lot. I was scared you’d die from that news headline.”
Alex’s eyes widened a bit, and their heartbeat quickened with thoughts of the accident. They quickly calmed down, though and tried to keep calm. “Don’t worry, Ari. I’m fine now.” Ariya only smiled in response, glad that Alex is fine.
“And, how’s Mary?” She inquired.
“She’s good. Speaking doesn’t hurt anymore, and she’s grown taller than the last time you saw her.”
“Ohh!! She was 4 when I last saw her!!! Is she like, 9 now?”
“10.” Alex corrected.
“Ohhh… I’m old, I'm sorry!!” Ariya can only chuckle at her own stupidity, to which Alex responds, “We’re both only 15.”
They both arrived at school, and it was just like any other day at high school. Some goodniks, some badniks, so on and so forth.
Ariya had these classes in order; Algebra, Theatre Arts, Thermodynamics, Physical Health, French, and Literacy.
Alex had Home Ec, Geometry, Thermodynamics, Physical Health, Literacy, and Business & Technology.
Thermodynamics and Physical health were the only two periods they could work together, and the rest was an introvert’s hell for the both of them. It’s not to say Ariya is one, she’s just not used to so many loud people.
During Physical Health, Ariya and Alex were walking alongside each other in the gym’s perimeter, making sure to go on the lines and to not step out of such. Ariya was all for scary things. Alex? Not so much.
This was an invitation for her to tease them.
Alex was spacing out and just focusing on their thoughts, suddenly a bit shook by the words “Hey, Alex?” that came out of Ariya’s mouth.
“..Yea?” Alex responded, looking over at her, who now had a big grin.
“What if your little sister was possessed? What if she acted weird?” Ariya asked, looking over to the walls as if beginning to wonder. “Think about it. A demon within your sister. A monster who makes her do things she wouldn’t normally do… like eating people!”
Alex’s eyes widened a little at the image; Alex walking in on Mary pulling the organs out of some dead man with her teeth, sucking the intestine up like it was a noodle from spaghetti, the blood all over her face and hands. Alex blinked, and that idea soon went out of their head. “Ari, please.. She’s only 10, what monster would try to steal the life of a child with no boring life and an absent father?”
“Speaking of dads,” Ariya started, completely off-track from what she was saying beforehand. “Your own dad was a good man, right?” She asked, her smile gone. Alex nods. “He was outgoing, and he made everyone smile with his corny dad jokes and his rambles about stuff he likes.” Alex chuckled a little. “I miss him a lot. Still do.”
“At least your dad’s nice.” Ariya shrugged. “My dad’s an asshole. Mom caught him cheating with his mistress and then he divorced her and took me with. Not to mention he’s abusive as hell.” Alex’s smile dropped a little, to a small frown. “Ariya, that’s.. Horrible.” Ariya nodded. “Sometimes, when I read over that news headline… I wish it was my own dad and not yours.” Alex blinked a bit. “Are you.. Are you still with him?” Ariya shook her head. “Nope! Mom took me back. She’s really sweet, and she reminds me of your dad sometimes… She steals dad jokes and calls them ‘Mom jokes’.”
Alex rolled their eyes. “Huh. At least you’re in a better place now. Is he in jail yet?” Ariya nodded, her smile coming back. “Whole mugshot and everything on the news. It reached digital but the page takes longer to load than the delivery biker throwing the newspaper at every house he could set his eyes on–”
The bell rang.
Time for 5th period.
After the end-bell rang, Alex got on the bus, and sat next to Ariya again. While she was playing something on her Game Boy Color, the thought of Mary being a cannibalistic monster still lingered in Alex’s mind. Mary already seems so eerie and deprived of joy, but Alex always assumed that was from the trauma of the accident. Could it have been something else?...
Alex got home before they knew it, and they walked down the bus stairs, and into the house. “A possessed Mary… That won’t happen. Demons aren’t real.” Alex shrugged off the paranoia.
They opened the door, and Mary was in a princess dress.
“Aye! ‘Ello there, Guv’na!” Mary had a smiling face, her ears decorated with those clip-on earrings and her hands gloved by a shiny fabric. Her hair, instead of sporting the usual pigtails and hidden-eye bangs, were now neatly brushed and curled with the other eye uncurtained by the bangs, looking just the same as the other, more commonly-shown eye. “Aye wus prehtti loneley! Would yu lihke sum tee?” Alex started chuckling, and the chuckling turned into laughter. Yeah, no way was this goofball possessed by a demon. “Mary!! That British accent won’t help you at all if you’re trying to be royal! If you talked like that all the time as a princess your peasants would’ve made a laugh out of it!”
Mary simply giggled, and started laughing too. “Hehehehe! Sorry, Ally!! I wanted to do a prank!” Mary gasped while laughing, falling to the floor. After the laughter had stopped, Alex let out their hand. “C’mon, Mary, up!” Mary got up by holding Alex’s hand. Alex put their hands on their hips as they looked down at Mary, smiling brighter than the smirk they usually have on their face. “Were you scared that I was gonna be moody after school again?” Mary nodded, hugging Alex. “I don’t want you getting hurt anymore..”
“If I were strong enough, like, really big and strong like daddy was, I would have beaten those bully teenagers to a pulp!!” She backed away and pretended to hit the air as she made sound effects. “And then, like Godzilla, I’ll BITE their heads off!” She opened her mouth wide and bit down at the air. Unfortunately, her tongue came into contact with the teeth, so she screamed and started saying “ow!” over and over, walking around in circles, nearly falling.
Alex picked her up in time. “Now, Mary… We don’t bite, okay? Biting hurts, okay? What if their heads don’t taste good?” Alex pat Mary’s head. “What if their heads taste like brussel sprouts?” they added. Mary made a ‘bleh’ sound, looking playfully disgusted. “Eww!! I hate brussel sprouts!” She complained, before getting up from Alex’s arms and going to the living room. “I’ll wait until you’re done getting comfy so that we can play games!!”
Alex closed the door to their room and locked it. As Alex got out of their school clothes and into their new ones, they sighed softly. Mary’s acting really happy today, and she’s rarely happy, only happy when she’s earned ice cream. Ice cream is the only reason she’s willing to eat brussel sprouts. Endure a bad thing so that you can get a good thing as a reward…
“That sounds familiar, huh?” They told themself. “Sounds like what Ari went through..”
Alex finally finished getting dressed and opened the door. Mary was nowhere to be found.. Alex gently creeped onto the couch, looking for her. They heard small fast footsteps, and before they knew it, they were attacked from behind. “Boo!”
Alex yelped and looked behind them, seeing Mary. “I changed my mind, I wanna ask mom to go to a movie!” Mary looked at the backdoor, expecting Laurel to come in after smoking a pack. She does so, and then closes the door.
“Who wants to go see Never Been Kissed?” Mary raises her hand, and Alex calmly raises theirs, although their own hand was a bit lower. “Get dressed then, you two…” Laurel said, putting on her jacket. “Okay, mom!” Both of the kids replied. Mary put on her shoes and Alex put on theirs. “Mary, are you seriously going in that princess costume?” Mary pouts, before snapping back “It’s not a costume! It’s my outfit for the movie!” Alex only rolled their eyes in response. “Mom, are you drunk? You wouldn’t take Mary to see a PG-13 movie.. It’s got.. Ya know?” Laurel hiccups a little, as if she was actually drunk. “Ehh… Scooby Doo then??” The mention of such was an eye-opener for Mary.
“Scooby Doo! Scooby doo!!” Mary jumped from the couch.
SEPTEMBER 17th, 1999[]
Ariya.. Didn’t come to school today. Or yesterday, or the day before.
And Alex? They were horribly confused.
When they got on the bus, they saw the bus driver looked as if he’d seen something horrible.
Everyone else gave their attention to Alex themself. But why?
“Poor him,” the kids said. “I wonder how he’s holding up after her death..?”
..Ariyah died?
No, no. She can’t be dead. Ariyah is a ray of sunshine even after a lifelong rainstorm. There’s no way she could have just kicked the bucket when everything was going right for her!
Alex got off the bus. “I’m.. not going to school today,” They told the bus driver, before sprinting to the opposite side of the street, where Ariyah lives. Once they got there, they banged on the door loudly. “ARIYAH?? MISS? ANYONE???” As Alex felt their mind go to darker places, They decided to open the door.
“ARIYAH–!!”
She was gone. Alex knew she was dead, but it wasn’t like he thought, no, no..
Someone– No, Some THING ate her. Those were not the likes of human teeth, no, those were predator’s teeth. It was like some animal bit into her flesh, chewed her legs off, and bit the side of her neck.. Which was what Alex was seeing in front of them right now. A broken, bloody version of Ariyah, One of the only friends Alex ever had… And she was gone. Right in front of their blue eyes.
Why was it still there? Who did this?!
Alex felt absolutely sick to their stomach, so of course they decided to stay home after that today.
A few hours later, Mary came home, wiping her mouth with what seemed to be… blood.
Oh no.
Oh fuck no.
Alex remembered those words Mary said, “And then, like Godzilla, I’ll BITE their heads off!” and the words Ariyah said, “Think about it. A demon within your sister. A monster who makes her do things she wouldn’t normally do… like eating people!”
Alex placed two and two together. After the accident, after the surgery, something happened… Which made Marilyn hungry for flesh, bones, and blood.
Mary looked over at Alex, smiling with… no mouth. She’d usually have a mouth.. Where the hell was it? She’d wave to them like nothing’s wrong, before going up to her room to change into her pajamas. Alex would only hope they were dreaming.
The very next day, Alex would walk up to Mary’s room to see she’s already gone. It’s Saturday.
Alex slowly walked down the stairs, to see a note by Mary herself.
“Deer Alex!!! Plz meet me at da shed!!! I got ur bulliez!!”
Alex felt a cold chill down their spine, what the hell could their sister possibly want after KILLING one of their only friends?
Alex hesitantly put the note in their pocket as they went out the backdoor, walking into the shed…
Only to find that she’s caught more prey.
And Ariyah was brought into said pile of dead bodies.
“Sooo?” Mary looked up at Alex with the usual sparkling eyes of hers, whenever she’s proud of herself. “I’m going to be REALLY honest with you, Allie!! Ariyah is not who you think she is.” “She isn’t..?” Alex blinked. To them, this was going WAY too fast. First Ariyah is dead, then Mary’s the killer, and NOW Ariyah’s been hiding shit even before death?? “Well,” Mary started, “I knew that Ari was living a block away from you, so I decided that eavesdropping was a good thing to do cuz you never know when she REALLY likes you right??” Alex had no response. Mary just continued nonetheless. “Turns out, I was WRONG. She’s lied about everything! Her dad and mom are really nice to her, she doesn’t have a MEAN dad, and she was bullied ‘cuz they were her victims!!” Mary pointed at the almost-eaten corpses of the ones who had wronged both Mary and Alex, as well as predators, murderers, and other various crime-doers. Whom their mother had come into contact with. “Lookie! I gave them justice!” Mary smiled, finally, with those sharp teeth and that big mouth that could bite off a head… literally. Alex gulped in a bit of fear. “Am.. Am I next? You’re not going to kill me, right?”
Mary just… burst out laughing. “No way!! You never made me mad to the point I wanted you dead!! Besides, I did this to protect you, Ally!!” She put her tongue out sillily, clear proof that she wasn’t possessed and this clearly was the Mary that Alex.. 70% knew. “Why’d you eat them, though?” Alex asked, a bit more calmer now that they knew Mary wasn’t there to hunt them down for food. “It’s ‘cuz I was hungry, duh.” Mary shrugged when she said this.
“..Just that?” Alex inquired.
“Yup!” Mary nodded. And then looked over at a corner. “Though there’s other individual reasons that I hunted all these badniks down, It all comes down to the fact that I was starving!!” Alex had at least one more question before coming into terms that they had a cannibal sister who’s mouthless simply because she can’t show those predatory fangs and the desire to eat raw human carcasses, that was simply too hard for someone her age.
“Won’t you get a disease?”
“Nope!” Mary quickly answered. “Due to the medicine that the doctors accidentally gave me, i’m immune to the health dangers, so all that’s left is the yumminess of enemies!”
‘Yumminess of enemies’.. What a thing for her to say.
Alex had to admit, they were scared shitless of Mary, even now. 5 years after the surgery, and she’s been hiding this for… how long?! Not to mention that Mom wasn't at home today… She’s usually home on Saturday. Oh god, did she do something wrong too? What did she do? What did she do to get Mary angry?!—
“By the way, mom’s shopping for food tonight, so she’s not dead in case you’re wondering,” Mary added to break Alex’s train of thought.
OCT 30th, 2005.[]
It’s been 6 years since Marilyn had revealed her secret; A cannibalistic monster within a human girl’s body. Fortunately, she’s confident enough to rip off the “mouthless” from her nickname for 5 years, “Mouthless Mary”.
Each time someone bullied her for her lack of a mouth, that someone would have disappeared.. And their bones would be stored in the shed. The shed was usual, and the police who looked inside had only thought they were animal bones… The police are of low-intelligence, so even if it was easy to tie the murders to a girl like her due to DNA, the police only saw there was no mouth, and the bite marks were obviously animalistic… Humans don’t have animal teeth. The murders and missing cases were unsolved, even without hiding it.
Someone once asked Mary, “Are your teeth natural?” To which she’d reply, “Nope! They’re fake!”... Even after all these years, she’s physically a monster, but not mentally. That’s what Alex liked about Mary, that she wasn’t a cannibal just for the sake of eating the innocent, that she actually had a reason to.
Ariyah was exposed to be a years-long bully, harassing everyone all the way to her death when she was 15, and Alex had moved on after a few years, eventually finding someone else to be friends with; the guy with glasses who’s one of the victims to Ariyah. He’s too shy to give Alex his name, so to them, he’s Newton.
Yet, despite this happy end, Mary is still a threat. Mary can still kill people. It doesn’t mean she’s not as weak as a normal girl her age, it just means she’s got the ability to kill people in a variety of ways.
She isn’t a hero, she isn’t a villain…
She’s just Mary.
Mouthless Mary.
Creator Note[]
Hello, everyone! Rosalynn Bloodstone (Skythecyanbear) here!
I initially made this story because I wanted to rework an old (and honestly terrible) creepypasta I made when I was 10. This may not be the best story I've made, but I've worked quite hard on it! Instead of reusing some tropes in popular creepypastas, what I had done is make shit up along the way while still sticking close to what I had initially planned for the rewrite.
What was kept in was the car crash, Mary having clues of what was going on unbeknownst to her older sibling, and the mother being a widow.
What WASN'T kept in was Alex's death, Ariyah's/Ary's dad dying, and Mary being 5 instead of 10.
I hope this was worth a read for everyone, and I wish you all a wonderful evening.

Trivia[]
About the original story.[]
- In the original story, Ariyah was named Ary, and The siblings' mother didn't even have a name.
- Alexis' gender is up to interpretation, hence they use the pronouns they/them, like they always did.
- The original story.. made no sense. It was all over the place, like "and then she shot out a hyper-realistic bullet out of her hyper-realistic gun" type writing. One thing led to another, and it ended with Alex dying and Mary being on the news,
- In the original story, Alex was completely unharmed when the car crash happened. I decided to lay off on the plot armor with this remake.
- The original story was attached to a Melody meme. (note: this is the link that will take you to a coding site, a site that contains both the meme and the original story in it's source of creation.)
Inspirations for the characters.[]
- Mary is actually based off of me when I was 10. I've always had self-loathing because of the fact my toddler teeth were growing, resulting in a new pair of teeth that layered over my actual top teeth. these teeth were sharp, and I got called vampire and, as a result, didn't have a lot of friends.
- Alex was supposedly based off of my older sister, however since I hadn't known what goes on in her life (she was - and still is - very private about it, even when she's now old enough to drink.) I decided to have Alex reflect me aswell. About the friends parts, I did have some, though I was afraid that they might have been using me, like how Ariyah was just using and lying to Alex constantly.
- I based Ariya off of a few people I've met who would lie about their parents, their experiences, and much more. Someone I met when I was 12 lied about her sexual assault alot, even calling a male teacher a rapist. Another guy I met lied about his family (Like how Ariya lied about her dad being abusive.) and went on to paint a few innocent adults as pedophiles by flirting with them. (Luckily, he's gone.)
- I based the dad off my own dad. WAIT!! HEAR ME OUT!! My real dad is alive right now! It's just the nerdiness of both dads that I based him off of!!
The Timeframe[]
- The original story was taken place in 2015, but I didn't want to do that 'cuz that seemed boring, especially since I was 10 and not well-versed in the art of a story taking place in an earlier/later time than it was actually made.
- The reason why it set place in the 90s because of the 2000s that is to come. (I REALLY wanted Marilyn to have the scene haircut when she's older)
