Green Mountain

On January 12th, 2024, a game was posted on SonicFangamesHQ labeled Green Mountain. The game wasn't known for some time till it was discovered by one Twitter user.

The game was made by an mysterious user named grenmoun_s-o-n-i-c who was only active till January 13th and he's only quote was "Climb the green mountain trail" with the game link named "Green Mountain.zip".

Gameplay

The game immediately begins with Sonic in Green Hills zone without the tittle card. There are alot of noticable differences like with Sonic's eyes being closed, the backround is very oversaturated, the sky is black and the classic Green Hill song was replaced with weird distorted one. There are also no enemies nor obsticales in our paths and our mission is too climb the Green Mountain trail.

The Beggining

What's weird about this game is that it has falling damage whenever Sonic falls in deep hight's. The player needs to be careful otherwise he will start all over from the begining. Once reaching to the top, Sonic will meet a doppelgänger version of himself. He has no face and he's body is completely blacked out. At first he won't do anything but it isn't long till he start's attacking Sonic, what's weird about this boss fight is that Sonic cannot die no matter how much you try. Once you hit him 4 times he starts to run to the left to escape but the game window is preventing him to leave. Hitting him again will make him run the right and hitting him last time will cause him to melt and die.

The Doppelgänger

Once beating him Sonic will get stuck on the top with no options to escape and waiting for 3 minutes, the game starts to deteriorate along with Sonic who starts to melt. While the game is disappearing into darkness, Sonic can only at this point jump with no ducking or looking up. Once the game reaches is limit Sonic melts yet again and this time he's face is completely gone leaving a hole on his face just like he's doppelgänger. Sonic then stands lifelessy with no chance of moving while the rest of the game vanishes. Then the GAME OVER text appears with very eerie sound plays 3 times. This is where the game ends.

While digging to the game files. You'll find mysterious yet disturbing files such as "We left it in the car" or "Did you get the shovel?". It's most likely related to some unknown individuals who are digging or burying a body, but one file stands out with most of them tittled "Returnal.png". Upon opening it it shows a disturbing yet unknown image of what seems to be Sonic's corps or the mountain, however it's still debatable of what the image is and what it means to this day.

Green Mountain 2

On August 11th 2024 grenmoun_s o n i c posted a sequal for the original game. When opening the game, Sonic appears in Marble Zone. The song was replaced with glitchy sounds and instead going to the top the player has to go to the bottom. The lava was replaced by dark black liquid which if jumping in it will cause a strange sound to play and staying to long in it will cause you to die. Going through the level, the player will have a chance to spot a mysterios entity that immediately dissapears upon encounter.

When completing through Marble Zone, louder sounds of static are heard as if its the sound of wind. Sonic later finds himself in Spring Yard Zone. The weird distorted music is back and the level also had enemies. Whenever Sonic hits a badnik, it creates sounds from what seems to be sound of number calls and hitting all 7 of them last time will cause them to die.

Next Level

A Badnik

Exploring the level you will find a blue thing thats located highter part of the level and a flower below the level. Once Sonic goes through the level, he will immedietly stop in front of what seems to be a bed. Staying there for a bit longer will trigger weird sounds and a mysterios object appears in the seen. The weird sounds were quickly replaced with sirens before the game cut to GAME OVER with the unknown object.

Going through the files of the game will reveal new conversations like "I Can't See" or "It's Dark out", however we still don't know anything as to whats happening.
