Author's Note: Please Read the Original Story, Escape From Merrywood, as this story is the sequel to the original story.
Not too long ago, around mid-November 2013, Konami had finished work on a title known as “Escape from Merrywood 2”. This particular game was an experiment as a sequel to the previous game called 'Escape From Merrywood'. This was an experimental game which was made as a sequel to the experiment game, as Konami wanted to do futher experiemnts in development and marketing. It was available on Wii and Xbox 360 and only released in Gamestop in Utah. However not many people liked it and Konami was shocked due to everyone hating the game, with 99.9% of people giving a negative hating review. Nobody knew or had played the original Escape From Merrywood, because this was also a secret Konami experiement, and this game is creepy and people had hated it. I don't know why I ever thought Escape From Merrywood 2 would be different ... but I when I moved from Maine to Utah I almost died from shock when I saw that 2 years later, there was a sequel to that cursed, vial game on the shelf of my local gamestop. But I knew, deep down I had to play it to complete my journey and truly escape.
I brought the game and I went home and I plugged in the game on my wii and put in the disc into the wii. Starting up the game would be the standard affair again, Konami logo and all that, leading to a rather nice menu screen, keeping the chalkboard motif that was on the cover. There aren’t many options to choose from, being a single player only game, you really only have new game, load and options. This was just like the first game, except on the menu screen were the words 'Escape From Merrywood 2 - Hell Village'. I swallowed my terror and clicked on the option to start a new game. Suddenly, I was back in the forest, where previously I had committed the evil act as forced by the game to cause Merry to commit suicide. The forest was dark and creepy, and it felt like something had changed .... I explored around the fantasy land but I found everything twisted and abandoned, overgrown by the weeds and forest ever since Merry had died. There were none of the cute stick figure creatures I had been when I played the first game.
bitch
I walked through to the centre of the village, where there had been a shop. I walked inside, and I saw that there was finally looked at one of the Stick Creatures. He was on the growned and covered in blood, as if he'd been attacked by something. He spoke to me in his weird voice.
"Merry was our protector ... why did he have to kill himself? He was the only one who protected us from ... them." I realized with a shiver of horror that they didn't realize it had been me who had done this deed. But now I was curious. I clicked on the option to ask him who 'them' was.
"Urgh... so painful ... they are the night creatures, they come at night and they must be stopped. That was why Merry didn't let anyone out of the village at night... because of the night creature. it came and attacked us... I think I'm the last one left."
"Where do the night creature come from?"
"They come from the forest in a place ... they're own town ... called 'Hell Village'."
Suddenly I realized what I had to do, I had to redeem myself for the evil act of killing Merry ... I had to become this villages protector now. It was the right thing to do.
"Please tell my kids ... Dadda won't be coming home from work today." The shopkeeper gasped, and he died. I stood for a moment in silence realizing my deeds had caught this, before I prepared myself for my mission to stop the creatures and to journey to hell village. I went behind the counter and got a gun and a sword as well as armoured and a pair of night vison goggles, as I figured that it was almost night time and the night creatures would be out and most active at this time.
I quickly walked down the street and set off in the direction of Hell Village, which I knew due to seeing a map on the wall of the cabe. cabin. I walked through the woods, it was eerie and creepy without the presents of Merry, a happy and fun loving creature to protect me. Suddenly I saw movement from the corner of my eye. There is was again. I span round and around trying to pin point the movmenet with my weapon. Finnaly I spotted it... so this was one of the infamous Night Creatures. It was a small green gremlin or goblin type creature, with green slimy toadlike skin, a red nose, and shining red eyes. It was very short, only 1 foot tall, and had sharp yellow teeth. It also worse a red pointy cap.
"Die goblin bitch!" I cursed. "This is for attacking stick village!"
I shot the gun and fired, and the goblin creature, or night creature exploaded. Its head a and body parts flew all in seperate directions due to the overwhelming force of the bullet impact. Green blood spurted everywhere, crashng over me in a tidal wave. I jumped to my feet and ran over to where the golblin lay dying.
".... ugh ... I only did what I did to feed my family..." He whispered as he died. Once again, I was feeling conflicted ... torn apart by horror. Was this what I had become? I shot a guy just trying to feed his fammily, even if he did just want to do bad things to do this. This was the terrifying moral conflict at the heart of the Merrywood series of games ...
Suddenly the game booted me from the game back to the menu with the message 'game complete ... would you like to play again?' ... I did not. I put Escape From Merrywood 2 in the closet alongside my copy of Escape from Merrywood ... I didn't wish to think about these games for a long time. About what they had caused me to do. About what I had become.
